Guinness Bread

Guinness Bread Best Ever !

This is an easy one lads, the more often you make this bread you’ll find you don’t even need the measurements you will just get better at judging the amounts.

If you don’t want to use Guinness – no problem just substitute it with Buttermilk or you can do half and half if you want to tone it down a bit.

Do it in this order….

540 grams of Wholemeal flour

1/4 tablespoon of Salt

1 heaped tablespoon of Bread Soda (use a sieve of some description so it goes in fine)

1 desert spoon of Golden Syrup (can use honey or maple syrup but G-Syrup is best)

600 mls of “The black stuff” or Buttermilk (or a blend of both)

Now mix well so it all is now stodgy

Get your bread tin and pour in 1/4 of a tablespoon of sunflower or vegetable oil to line the base and walls of the bread tin.

Add the mixture evenly with a wooden spoon

Put it in the oven at 180 degrees for 1 hour exactly !

Here’s a tip when you take it out of the oven totally wrap it in a clean tea-towel. This just makes the crust nicer! (Rest it until it cools approx 1 hour)

The bread will last for at least 3 days and can still be toasted day 4 or 5 no problem. Enjoy with some real butter……
